A Counselling Psychologist is a specialist in psychological therapy. A counselling psychologist can assist you in working through problems such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, as well as work problems and relationship issues. They can also help you to think in new ways, manage difficult emotional experiences and establish new ways of behaving.

A Clinical Psychologist is a specialist in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychological and mental health problems. A Clinical Psychologist will assess your emotional and functional well-being and will uncover the reason behind your problems. They will then help you to control and cope with with these difficulties and provide practical support to enable you to overcome them.

An initial consultation with us will enable us to determine the best option for you. As part of this we will use a range of scientifically proven assessments and interviews.  Both Counselling and Clinical Psychologists hold postgraduate qualifications and undergo ongoing, rigorous monitoring and training throughout their career.

Many of the people we meet know that something is seriously wrong but can't pinpoint what the problem really is.  This is where we come in.  As a team of highly qualified and experienced psychologists we will provide you with a professional diagnosis.  We will then work with you to implement a strategy to change things for you.

Our fees are highly competitive.  Please see our fee list.  You will come to one of our locations in Kingston, Stoneleigh or Harley Street.  In specific circumstances we can come to you, with our fee agreed in advance, depending on how far we have to travel and how long the journey.  If, following the initial consultation, we agree to work together, we will typically work in blocks of six sessions.  If, following the initial consultation, we agree to work together but there is a true issue with cost, we can certainly come to an arrangement.  For families, a programme can be designed to meet your needs and location (we work right across the globe) and the cost calculated accordingly.

We always discuss costs and agree length and duration of the sessions in advance.  You can also rest assured that we will never encourage you to have more contact hours with us than are absolutely necessary.  We don't want you to become dependent on us in the longer term unless your circumstances are so serious that this is necessary.  In fact, our goal is to help you turn things around in as short a time as is possible, so that we can go on and help another person, couple or family.

Behaviour Analysts analyse behaviour and produce a strategy to enable you to eliminate undesirable behaviours and replace them with appropriate ones.  This could be anything from challenging behaviour in a child, to an adult who cannot interact socially, as well behaviours associated with conditions such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder.  The usual starting point for is to observe the individual at home, as well in in other social situations, such as at school or at social events.  The Behaviour Analyst will then produce a strategy to help the person overcome the inappropriate behaviours and provide intensive training to help them achieve this.  Behaviour Analysts are highly qualified and must have a postgraduate qualification, as well as having to undergo regular training and assessment with the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board.

Psychologists are more concerned with how we think and how this impacts on our behaviour and our interaction with the environment and people around us.  They typically work with people struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, addiction, marital problems and psychological disorders such as schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder.  Psychologists are highly trained and usually study and train for at least 6 years before achieving professional status.  They are closely regulated  and must adhere to strict ethical and professional guidelines.

Counsellors provide a listening ear for a person, couple or family experiencing problems in one or more areas of their life.  Common issues they help with include stress, family problems and problems at work.  Counsellors often work in schools, health centres, churches and in private practices.  Because they they do not require any academic qualifications or formal training they are not permitted to give advice.  Many counsellors undergo a minimum of 6 weeks' training before practicing.

Many of the people who first get in touch with us say that their partner, child or children are unwilling to come to the sessions.  Rest assured there is still much to be gained by you coming on your own, even if the problem specifically relates to your partner, child or children.  In fact, sometimes a partner or child are so impressed by the changes they see once your programme starts, that they decide to come along after all!

We use a range of techniques and therapies which are geared towards your unique needs and situation.  These include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Verbal Behaviour (VB), Behaviour Activation Therapy, Christian Counselling and, with your consent, prayer ministry.  We believe that by combining the very best tried and tested approaches from mainstream psychology with a prayerful, faith-based approach, Kadayer really is quite unique.  And more importantly, as we have seen time and time again, this approach works.

Absolutely.  As a team of highly trained and experienced psychologists we bring the very best tried and tested, scientifically proven methods from conventional psychology.  But we recognise that psychology only goes so far.  By combining professional input with faith in a God who can heal even the most deep-rooted hurt and pain, we believe we're on to a winner.

We are committed to excellence in all that we do.  All of our team are highly qualified and experienced in their field.  This, combined with the additional support we can provide in terms of praying with you and for you, really will make a difference.  However, in the unlikely situation of you being disappointed by the support you have received please come and talk to us and we will be happy to rectify the situation.

The  starting point is for you to come in for an initial consultation.  This 90 minute session will give you the opportunity to talk in depth about whatever issues are concerning you.  At the end of this session we will have a good picture of what the key issue or issues are.  We will then recommend how best to take things forward for you.  In some cases, such as with a child with special needs or health or behavioural problems we will visit you at home to watch your child in their home environment.  For others we may suggest a series of regular counselling sessions to work through the issues.

Many people we meet, particularly Christians, feel an enormous sense of guilt and embarrassment about the issue they are struggling with, particularly if it of a sexual nature.  Sadder still, many of our Christian clients have never felt able to talk to another Christian about what they are struggling with.  Rest assured that you can discuss anything you like with us.  In fact, chances are we have seen it before anyway.  We also strive to provide a relaxed and informal environment for you to be able to talk your problems through with us, so that that you won't feel judged or condemned.  You can also rest assured that whatever you discuss with us will be in the strictest confidence.

Absolutely not.  We welcome people of all faiths and none.  What's more many of the people we meet at Kadayer find that when things really fall apart for them, a struggle with their faith often ensues.  So whether you are a person of faith or not, you are welcome and we are glad you have found us.

We get asked this question a lot!

Firstly we are not in the business of 'fixing' people.  Only God can really change a person.  Our job is to help you implement an effective plan to overcome whatever you are struggling with.  But we aren't just a team of highly qualified and experienced psychologists.  We also include Christian Counselling and prayer ministry as part of the package.  In our experience, this combination of faith and psychology really works.

The length and duration of your programme with us will of course depend on a range of factors, not least the nature of your problems and the severity of them.  After the initial consultation we will agree with you how much contact time with us.

Many people who come to us have been disappointed by counselling.  Whilst counselling is of huge value to many people, it does have significant limitations.  Counsellors do not have the training or qualifications to advise you or to help you implement a strategy for turning things around in your life.  Their role is purely to provide a listening ear and, in the case of Christian counselling, to pray with you.  Where your problem is of a specialist nature, e.g. a child with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, or an obsessive compulsive behaviour or clinical depression, specialist psychological interventions are required.  As a team of highly qualified and experienced psychologists we of course offer this. But we also offer Christian counselling and prayer ministry as part of the package.
